ADDING NEW DEVELOPMENT

One of San Pablo Avenue’s envisioned place-types is shown here: a neighborhood where the buildings will be an average of five stories tall, with a mix of shops and restaurants, office buildings, and homes. Several properties on this stretch are likely to redevelop. To calculate how many homes and jobs could be built on a given property—for instance, in each yellow building—the infill model multiplies the property’s acreage by the place-type’s density. Greenbelt Alliance then added up these projected increases in homes and jobs on all likely redevelopment sites for every town and city across the Bay Area. Calthorpe Associates helped assign place-type densities.
