Greenbelt Alliance’s infill model maps the properties—shown here as blue dots—that are likely to redevelop through real estate activity, based on a 2006 update of the California Parcel Locator Database. The database, created by the Institute of Urban & Regional Development at the University of California – Berkeley, uses county assessor records to identify properties where the value of what stands on the land is less than the value of the land itself. In using this data for its infill model, Greenbelt Alliance removed all properties with agricultural uses, condominiums, or single-family homes.
