Despite struggling with budget deficits and a disappearing redevelopment agency, San Jose’s leaders are taking the long view; on Nov. 1, they approved an ambitious and bold General Plan.

UPDATE 9/29/11: Last night, the San Jose Planning Commission voted to approve the Envision 2040 General Plan Update. Next, the plan goes to the City Council for final approval in late October or early November.

After four years of meetings, the Envision 2040 Task Force signed off on the General Plan, sending it on its way for approval by the San Jose Planning Commission and City Council.
